Concurso de ideas y proyectos para la integración del río Tajo en la ciudad de Toledo. Primera y segunda fases.

El objetivo fundamental de la propuesta global ha sido el acercamiento de la ciudad en sus diferentes sectores al Río. En la primera fase se buscó mejorar el río en los siguientes aspectos:

Calidad ambiental del entorno fluvial.
Movilidad y accesibilidad a lo largo de las márgenes del Tajo.
Uso social de las márgenes fluviales.
Vías de comunicación a lo largo del eje fluvial.
Patrimonio histórico relacionado con el río y su integración en la ciudad.
Integración del río Tajo y la ciudad de Toledo.

En la segunda fase se profundiza en la aproximación de Toledo hacia el Río con los siguientes recursos:

1. Mejora de las conexiones entre el río y el centro histórico, uniendo los tres niveles de visión y recorrido.
2. Apertura de las barreras que limitan el acceso al río en la zona universitaria y en la futura zona deportiva de ampliación de la universidad.
3. Construcción de corredores verdes en aquellos lugares de mayor dificultad de aproximación al río por la presencia de propiedades privadas.
4. Matización de la morfología urbana propuesta por el Plan General para enlazar el interior de las manzanas con el río, tras el Parque Ferial.
5. Propuesta de la Nueva Puerta de Toledo como ciudad litoral desde la estación del AVE como la Puerta del Río, mediante un gran acceso a la ciudad por el Río y su playa.
6. Proyecto de una ciudad futura volcada al Río tensando los márgenes de ribera propuestos en el Plan General para crear un Paseo Fluvial de carácter urbano, con actuaciones sobre la morfología en busca de la permeabilidad del tejido residencial.

The fundamental objective of the global proposal has been to bring the city in its different sectors closer to the River. In the first phase, the aim was to improve the river in the following aspects:

Environmental quality of the river environment.
Mobility and accessibility along the banks of the Tajo.
Social use of river banks.
Communication routes along the river axis.
Historical heritage related to the river and its integration into the city.
Integration of the Tagus River and the city of Toledo.

In the second phase, the approach of Toledo towards the River is deepened with the following resources:

1. Improvement of connections between the river and the historic center, uniting the three levels of vision and route.
2. Opening of the barriers that limit access to the river in the university area and in the future sports area for expansion of the university.
3. Construction of green corridors in those places where approaching the river is most difficult due to the presence of private properties.
4. Nuance of the urban morphology proposed by the General Plan to link the interior of the blocks with the river, behind the Fair Park..
5. Proposal for the New Gate of Toledo as a coastal city from the AVE station as the Gate of the River, through great access to the city through the River and its beach.
6. Project of a future city focused on the River, tightening the riverbank margins proposed in the General Plan to create a River Walk of an urban nature, with actions on the morphology in search of the permeability of the residential fabric.
